About Me
Hello, I am Rosemary Davies!
I am a Linux systems administrator with a strong DevOps focus, experienced in managing infrastructure across diverse environments at scale. I’ve learned to herd computers in different contexts. I have managed Windows lab environments and thousands of engineering servers! I enjoy the problem solving that comes with inheriting different ecosystems. I love automation (ansible) and scripting (bash/python) to drive reliability, performance, and efficiency.
I value curiosity, teamwork, and continuous learning. As someone who entered the field later than most, I prioritize accessibility and knowledge sharing.

I'm also aided by the world's 2nd best investigator, Frog Detective!

Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity is a core extension of my work in systems administration. I focus on understanding real-world challenges. Security doesn't happen in a vacuum. Imperfect systems are the norm. Users make mistakes, budgets are limited, IT inherits technical debt, and miscommunication happens across groups. By understanding attacker techniques, I better understand how to recognize and defend. Linux privilege escalation is one of my favorite things! Many of these attacks can be stopped with the principle of least privilege and server hardening.
I currently serve as captain of Hack Manhattan’s CTF team, STON3F1SH. I also compete with NYC 2600's CyberSheeple team. Through CTF competitions, I’ve developed hands-on experience in areas such as digital forensics, web application security, and OSINT. I’m also enthusiastic about guiding new people into CTFs through Hack Manhattan’s Red Team study group.
CTFs completed in 2026 include:
- SANS Holiday Hack
- DC862
- ScarletCTF
- PascalCTF
- LA CTF
- DiceCTF Quals
- picoCTF
- SillyCTF
- DawgCTF
- MetaCTF
- RFCTF
- Cloud Village CTF
Outside of Work
I enjoy the creative side of computing (hence computer poetry). I'm a member of a shared Linux server Tilde Town.
When I'm not sitting in front of a computer, you can find me picking up trash around different NYC neighborhoods with the Pickup Pigeons on Thursdays and as a volunteer bike mechanic at the Times Up! bike co-op. My hobbies include making papercraft, using my soroban (abacus), and taking long walks in the city.
